Gods decided to give the city to the one who did the best dee. Poseidon threw his trident to a rock and a horse came up, Athenea pounded the ground with her Spear and an olive tree with fruits in abundance came up. Gods decided to give Athenea the victory. Athens city was founded to commemorate her victory.

Fot instance in the Koran the oil is described as the light which shines without being touched by fire; in the Catholic Religion there are a lot of virgins who have appeared in olive trees.

Noah told that a dove bought an olive branch in its peak as a sign of the Flood’s end; this image of the dove is considered as the universal symbol of peace. Nowadays in Venice an olive branch is put on the chimmey to prevent from the lightning; in the Holy week olive branches are taken to church so that the Catholic community could have welfare during the year. In Valencia small olive crosses are set in the fields to protect the harvests.....Summing up legends and traditions about this fruits are present in all cultures, religions and traditions and give us an idea of its importance.

It is known the use of oils for sports in Greece and Rome, and so we have a Pliny’s writing that complains about the price of the oil for the athletes which was sold by 60.000 sextertius and it was used for medical plasters.
